Q1.

Recovery period is all different by individuals, as I know.

I got surgery on eyes and nose and I didn’t get that much swelling.

How long do I have to be off at work?

 

Office workers’ biggest problem would be this one.

Firstly, swelling and bruise would be the main problem.

Recovery is up to patient, not to the doctor.

I heard that two jaw surgery is really a big surgery.

Do office workers quit and get it?

 

Two jaw surgery is to relocate upper jaw and lower jaw.

It’s about fitting the jaw bones, so there comes limits on talking or eating.

You can get back to daily life again averagely after 2 weeks.

Swelling and bruise are almost gone at this time, so it’s not evident at a glance.

You can just tell people that you got fat graft or pulled out wisdom teeth, haha.

 

However, you need to tolerate the discomforts if you have to talk a lot with your work.

Q3.

I wish to do face contouring surgery,

but do I need to do both square jaw reduction and cheekbone reduction?

Cheekbone is my main concern.

 

Ratio is very important on human’s face.

If you reduce only cheekbones, square jaw would be more visible.

In opposite, cheekbones would look bigger if you only get square jaw reduction.

It’s recommended to make harmony on their ratio if you got both over-grown cheekbones and square jaw.

How long do I have to wait to open mouth

as much as I could before the surgery?

 

It takes about 1 month that bones on surgery area would be settled and fixed on.

It means you really have to be careful for a month.

You could start trying to open mouth after a month, and two of fingers can be put in.

Steady exercise would be a help, but it takes at least 6 months to open as before.

Don’t worry about eating, however!

The sort of food you could eat will be various according to the size of open mouth.

Q5.

I wish to get face contouring surgery,

but I am with braces.

Do I need to put out and in again after the surgery,

or just continue?

 

If you got protruded mouth or uneven teeth set, you would look annoyed or untidy.

With this dental problem, orthodontics would help with not only with teeth set but also with smoother face lines.

You would get a lot different images after orthodontics.

After how many days shall I drink?

Q7.

When could I continue exercise

after square jaw reduction?

 

It takes 1 month for bones clung to each other both for square jaw reduction and two jaw surgery.

Walking is the best exercise for the first month.

Running or hard exercise would make surgery area shaken or stimulated, so have to be careful.

Swimming, yoga, cycling, fitness work, and climbing are okay for some degree, but running exercise as jump rope need to be kept off.

Q8.

I got chin and cheekbone reduction,

but still have so much fat on face.

I got smaller face, but not prettier one.

Can I remove those fats?

 

Saggy skin is common symptom after the face contouring or two jaw surgery.

Which surgery would my face be prettier through?

People who are interested in information of plastic surgeries 

would know exactly what they need to do, 

but there are some still confused of face contouring surgery and two jaw surgery.

They ask like this: 

“I concern that my face is like this. 

Which do I have to get, face contouring or two jaw surgery?”

We can say that they don’t have much understanding about plastic surgery.

Actually, plastic surgeons say most of people have confusion between them.

Today, we will talk about face contouring and two jaw surgery learning the difference!

Face contouring

The surgery for bones on face, 

so called as face contouring, includes

Two jaw surgery

Two jaw surgery is more complicated and multiple than the face contouring.

To explain it in an easy way, it’s a surgery which changes 

how much upper jaw and lower jaw are protruded or indented, 

or shortens their length.

These three conditions which two jaw surgery is needed:

ü protruded mouth

ü  lantern jaw        

ü  long face          

In the these cases, the bones are pushed inward to improve protruded mouth, 

pull upper jaw out and push lower jaw for a lantern jaw, 

and shorten all jaws for a long face.

After all, two jaw surgery is to improve our profile image moving real bones, 

not inserting a prosthesis and to give cubic effect.

Moreover, asymmetry which means inclined middle-line on face can be revised.

Then what is Anterior Segmental Osteotomy (A.S.O)?

Anterior segmental osteotomy, 

the surgery for protruded mouth, is kind of two jaw surgery.

They both deal with upper jaw and lower jaw, 

but the difference is that it only pushes inward in the case of 

anterior segmental osteotomy, 

not like two jaw surgery which moves both in multiple ways.

Anterior segmental osteotomy is only able to be performed after a tooth extraction, 

and it’s for a severe case. You would have two jaw surgery if your mouth is not protruded or don’t need to extract any tooth.

Then one more important thing to remember!

We cannot get only two jaw surgery. 

More than one surgery of face contouring 

(square jaw reduction, cheekbones reduction, genioplasty) is needed.

That’s because both jaws are not fitted perfectly 

after shortening the upper one and the lower one or trying to fix the angle.

So a beautiful face in the harmony of profile and full face is made 

after both two jaw surgery and face contouring surgery.

anterior segmental osteotomy only moves in one way.)
