If your eyelids are heavy or droopy, and your eye pupil are covered too much and give you a drowsy look, your eyelids are more likely suits Ptosis correction more. Normally, eye pupil are exposed to 80 ~ 90% or more. You may recognize ptosis issues if the eyes are exposed only 70% or less.

Ptosis is inherently caused by a weak eyelid lifting forces or by acquired factors such as aging and trauma. If you have ptosis, you often use your forehead and forehead muscles to see objects, causing deep wrinkles, and eyelids that cover your pupils, causing vision problems. If left untreated, symptoms such as low vision or astigmatism may also appear, so it is advisable to receive treatment such as eye ptosis correction.

Occasionally, ptosis correction and general double eyelid surgery may be confusing. Ptosis correction may also be done with double eyelid surgery, but the two are quite different surgery. Ptosis is a symptom that covers the eyelids because the muscles of the eye open are weak.

Ptosis correction is a surgery that shortens or removes the levator muscles to raise the eyelids. It is a surgery that improves the root cause of ptosis (eye muscles) and enhances eye opening strength which turning drowsy eyes into clear eyes. Eyelid Ptosis correction can be divided into two types of incisions and non-incisions. Because non-incisional eye correction does not make an incision, there is less scar and it is relatively faster to recover than incision method.

The general double eyelid surgery is basically a surgery as its name, a surgery to make the double eyelids. It is a surgery that connects the structures that open the eyes and the skin and tissue where the double eyelid lines will be formed. If Ptosis correction is more focused on the functional aspect, double eyelid surgery is the cosmetic aspect. However, it is possible to make double eyelids at the same time while performing Ptosis correction even if there were double eyelids, Ptosis correction can be done.

Is it better to use Ice pack or Hot pack

after double eyelid surgery?

You know that ice/hot pack is good after surgery, right?

However, there are some people who say Ice pack is effective and some for hot packs.

Are you confused?

In fact, both are actually good!

However, the roles of the two packs are a little different.

So let’s take a closer look at how those packs work.

Ice packs are great to help removing swelling after surgery.

Therefore, for the 4 post-operative days, please use Ice pack only as much as possible.

However, some people want to do extra hard and put it while sleeping as well.

Please DON’T do that!

There are a lot of people who need to visit the hospital suffering from frostbite.

You may use the Ice pack only for 5 minutes to 10 minutes at once.

You have to repeat it after 10 minutes break.

After four repetitions, please take a rest from 30 minutes to an hour.

Please don’t do it all day long just because you think it’s good for your recovery.

Do not overdo it for more than 15 minutes because it is rather not good to your skin!

Keeping your skin cold makes your sense to be numb.

So, you may not even know if you suddenly suffer from frostbite!

It is good to half lie down or sit when you put Ice pack.

Especially in the morning, it’s really swollen, right?

So, when you wake up in the morning, you can do opening eye exercise

(practice to lift your eyes ~) about 20 times

and then it is very good if you put Ice pack about 10 minutes.

If you do not do anything and just lay down, the swelling will never go down!

So what role does the hot pack do?

The hot pack helps relieve the bruise by encouraging blood flow circulation.

Remember! Same as with Ice packs, avoid excessive usage.

So, be careful!

Just keep it warm and not too hot when using the hot pack,

repeat same as when you use Ice pack.

Therefore, you do not need a hot pack right after the surgery.

You may use it 4-5 days after surgery.

4-5 days after the operation, you only need Ice pack.

After that time, you can alternate between ice pack and hot pack or just using hot pack.

One more time, you should always pay attention to avoid frostbite and burns

caused by the ice/hot pack!

What is Epicanthoplasty?

It is not an operation that artificially tears a part of the eye;

instead it is a surgery that regains the length of the genetically-determined eye.

Everyone’s inner corner of eye has a red area at the spot

and it’s a beautifully balanced eye if this part seen about 50-80%.

However, there are some people who do not have this red colored area on their eyes

and those people are the one who definitely need Epicanthoplasty.

Would not it look weird to see the red part of the eye after the Epicanthoplasty surgery?

You wouldn’t see all of the red area when you do Epicanthoplasty,

but it only shows half. Aesthetically,

it is the most beautiful feature of Asian people if the red area is seen about half

or two- thirds. If all of the red area is seen, it gives strong look.

However, it gives dull image if you see none or less of it.

Isn’t the scar obviously seen if we get Epicanthoplasty?

There are two types of scar that could be seen depending on the surgical procedure.

One is the standard method where the scar is slightly left in front of the eye.

Special care/concern must be taken seriously for young people, people with dark skin,

male, or people who easily get long term scars, etc.

The other method is not to create obvious scar.

Actually there would be a scar but it’s positioned on the outer part of the eyes,

Q. Is Incision Double Eyelid Surgery absolutely permanent?

A. No, it is true that the incision method is less likely to be untied than the non-incision one, but it does not mean that  the incision one would not loosened.

There are various treatment methods in the incision method.

Depending on the procedure, the results may vary

depending on the characteristics of the eyes.

So it doesn’t mean that it’s permanent even though it’s incision.

Q. Would double eyelid appear if I put double eyelid tape?

A. Less fatty and thin eyelids can make temporary double eyelids through the tape.

However, double eyelids are formed by the contact of the muscles

and eyelids that open the eyes,

so it couldn’t form double eyelids only through tape as it would be lost at some point.

Double eyelid tape can cause skin issues such as itching and exfoliation inflammation

by giving direct stimulation to the eyelids.

Also, if you use it for a long time, your skin elasticity will be lost

and your eyelids will become saggy which makes it even more difficult.

It is better to have control from excessive use

because it makes harder to make a beautiful double eyelid.

Q. Is it possible for children to have double eyelid surgery?

A. Double Eyelid Surgery may be performed on kids

for the purpose of functional issues of the eyelid.

However, it is recommended that Non-Incisional Double Eyelid method be performed

after full 12 years old at least,

and that the Incisional Double Eyelid method after 17 years of age.

Q. Does surgery cause inflammation in the summer?

A. Quite a lot of people think that sweating causes inflammation in summer.

Inflammation is not necessarily limited to certain season

because it is likely to be induced by physical characteristics.

If you are trying to make a decision to do surgery while being suspicious,

your worries will never end!
