Common Facial Contouring Procedures

Three facial contouring procedures are done by our clinic:

One of the most common facial procedures is square jaw reduction.

Square jaw reduction is a procedure that involves trimming the jaw bone, muscle removal, and fat removal to create a proportionate and natural jawline, the ideal shape for the jawline would be called the v-line however it is not the standard. Banobagi specialists work to create the most proportionate and naturally beautiful face that they can and that means finding the v-line within every patient. Not creating the same structure over and over again.

Operate with Long Curvilinear Resection

There is growing interest in facial contour surgery, 

which improves facial shape while appearance is becoming a competitive advantage. 

If the contour of the face is uneven or angled, 

the person looks somehow rough and not bright.

 Facial contour surgery refers to the surgery which trims protruded cheekbones, 

square jaws, and frontal chin.

Especially, a wide jaw or thick square jaw is somewhat distant 

from the slim and sophisticated appearance. 

A square jaw is a case in which the lateral jaw protrudes outward from the frontal side 

so it makes the lower face looks wider with an angle of almost 90 degrees 

from the profile.

The cause of the square jaw is divided into cases of the large congenital jaw bone itself 

and acquired angular case with too developed masticatory muscle 

which is chewing muscle. 

If the jaw muscles are acquired and seen as a square jaw, 

it can be improved by botox treatment. 

However, if the facial bone itself is congenitally developed, surgical methods 

such as square jaw reduction should be considered.

Although the reduction surgery of square jaw right under the ears has been actively performed, the entire jaw line looks not smooth and awkward, 

and also the frontal improvement effect is insufficient. 

The secondary angle phenomena may occur

 because the bone resection part and overall jaw line are not smoothly connected.

Because of this, instead of resecting only the jaw bones, 

nowadays, a lot of square jaw reduction surgery have been operated 

with the method of long curvilinear bone resection to create a long and smooth curvilinear line from the square jaw to the side jaw. 

In addition to this, the cortical osteotomy 

which reduces the thickness of the outermost layer of the jaw bone and muscle resection can be used together to achieve the V-line effect.

Square jaw reduction surgery is usually performed 

within 1 hour under general anesthesia. Stitches will be removed after about 2 weeks of

the surgery, and it is possible to return to daily activities in a week. 

Occasionally, patients are afraid of general anesthesia itself rather than the surgery. 

If an anesthesiologist participates in the entire procedure, the surgery can be safely done.

There are some surgeries that cut the bones like facial contouring and square jaw surgery.

However, there are more surgeries that do not simply cut the bone

and remove the unnecessary parts and connect the bones again, right?

The surgeries such as Front chin, Protruded Mouth, Cheekbone, Two Jaw surgeries, etc.

are done by this kind of procedure.

Don’t you wonder through what they use to connect our facial bones?

When connecting the bones, there are 2 methods;

one using a screw such as metal pin, the other using a melting screw.

Usually they fix it together using screw plate made from titanium.

They ram a screw plate looks like this.

They use a tiny little screw about 1mm.

You could not touch the area after the surgery even if you try hard

and you don’t have to worry as it's harmless to the human body.

It appears on the x-ray.

However, you wouldn’t take so many X-ray photos often anyway, right?

Therefore, you do not have to worry too much!

However, for some people who concerns

and definitely don’t want to have or put anything

even if it’s harmless, small, unobvious stuff inside their body.

There’s of course another way~

Later, when the bone is engaged, you could do screw removal surgery.

However, if you do not have any inconvenience,

why do you need to do the surgery again to remove it?

It is rare for patients who intentionally come to remove it.

You can also use a melting screw and plate.

However, it is less strong than metal so it is bigger than the metal one above.

If you put a big screw in it, the hole will be bigger

and the recovery time definitely will be longer.

The swelling also lasts longer and the risk of inflammation increases as well.

Screws and plates will start to melt over a year, and cost is more expensive.

Oh, and you're worried that the screw will not pass into the airport.

No need to worry!

It's the same ingredient for the dental implant, so there's no problem with the airport scan.
