Even though Rhinoplasty is not required after Two Jaw surgery,

Causes rhinitis?

It is expected that the weather will get cooler as the season changes

and the daytime temperature difference inside and outside

will be around 10 degrees in Korea.

However, the air conditioner activity is still high during hot days.

Air conditioner activities inside increases the temperature difference between

indoor and outdoor, and it is easy to get sick and allergic rhinitis.

According to statistics of National Health Insurance Corporation in 2016,

patients with allergic rhinitis last year increased by 14.1% compared with 2010.

Air conditioning can be the major factor in aggravating allergic rhinitis.

Approximately 40% of patients with sensitive nasal blood vessels

and nerves have air conditioner allergies.

Banobagi Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Changhyun Oh said,

"People’s nose has nostril’s hair, mucus, mucous membranes, etc.

and when they breathe, they prevent air pollutants from entering the nose

but people with allergic rhinitis are infected with inflammation inside the nose,

The main symptoms of allergic rhinitis are confusing with common colds,

but there is a clear difference.

When a cold exposed and is cured within a week,

it literally heals. However, if it goes beyond 10 days,

it can rooting the cold to the body and develops various diseases.

Rhinitis is one of them.

Especially, allergic rhinitis is characterized by continuous sneezing and runny nose, accompanied by nose blockage and itching of eyes, nose, and ears.

it is important to maintain proper humidity, temperature and cleanliness.

In all four seasons, the room temperature should be set at about 25 ~ 28 ℃

and the temperature difference between the outside and the room inside

should be about 5 ~ 8 ℃.

Once an hour, if the situation is difficult, it is better to ventilate for 20 minutes in 2-3 hours.

The dry, cold air from air conditioner can cause asthma

or make allergic rhinitis symptoms worse.

To prevent air conditioner allergies, the air conditioner filter should be cleaned

at least once every two weeks.

This is because molds and bacteria in the filter of the air conditioner float in the air

and can stimulate the nasal mucosa and provoke allergic symptoms.

If allergic rhinitis symptoms or acute rhinitis left untreated

due to the fact that it will naturally be relieved, chronic rhinitis may be worsen.

Chronic rhinitis can lead to secondary diseases such as

malocclusion, jaw joint disorders, headache, and indigestion, etc.

or even leads to secondary illness.

Especially, rhinitis is one of the causes of facial deformity.

Although rhinitis itself does not directly affect chin and tooth deformity, oral breathing

and nose blocking symptoms are continually over-developing the jawbone.

Oral breathing often suppresses the tooth with the tongue

and usually because of opening mouth habit; jaws grow backward than normal growth. Therefore, when the oral breathing habit is prolonged,

the facial shape such as malocclusion, protruded lip, protruding chin, face asymmetry

is likely to be deformed as the jaw joint and teeth growth become difficult.

" It is important to treat allergic rhinitis on time

and treat it by drinking plenty of warm water regularly

and always supply a lot of moisture in the neck frequently,"

The Procedure of Two Jaw Surgery and A.S.O

There are two cases of protruded mouth:

1. Protruded teeth

2. Protruded bone of gum

 

For the first case,

it could be solved by pulling out tooth

which is next to the canine

and pushing the protruded one inwards.

It would take 2-3 years for orthodontics,

but there would be no need of surgery.

 

For the second case with protruded bone of gum,

there is no other way but to do

two jaw surgery or A.S.O.(Anterior Segmental Osteotomy).

However, as the fundamental problem is the gum bone,

pushing it inwards would be a resolution.

This surgery is A.S.O.

 

You could imagine two jaw surgery for chin-side surgery,

but two jaw surgery and A.S.O are totally different

while you could be drastically changed after both surgeries.

Two jaw surgery is to push upper jaw and lower jaw inwards and pull outwards.

That’s the reason that it’s named as two jaw surgery.

If you’re not a serious case of protruded mouth, push both inwards.

If you have jutting chin, upper jaw is pulled out and push the lower one inwards.

In case of long face, shorten both.

For asymmetric face, change the location of both.

 

Two jaw surgery is to control the location of the bones.

 

 

Then what about A.S.O?

It’s to pull out 4 teeth next to canine teeth, and pushing gum bone inwards.

It’s not to change the angle but only to push inwards in the case of A.S.O, so it’s for serious protruded mouth.

 

You might have protruded mouth if you are like below.

1. Teeth are seen easily that you cannot close your mouth fully.

2. Mouth is often open, and you have fine wrinkles on chin when the mouth is closed.

3. If you put the ruler on the nose tip and chin tip, both lips are on the ruler, too.

4. You have little effect even after the nose surgery to improve flat nose.

5. You’re often told angry

6. You don’t have confidence on profile look, and have a vague mouth shape on photos.

7. You get dry on mouth and lips because of the habit of open mouth during sleep.
